Our Staff

Louise Cook

- Head Teacher

Hi. I'm Louise Cook and I am proud to be the Head here. We are a great team and are all working together to get the best possible outcomes for each and every student.  I try to keep fit by cycling to school, and going on long walks with my dog.  I like to learn something new every few years and this year I am continuing to learn bridge which is much more complicated than I had anticipated! I have two children, three cats, dog and a guinea pig.

Kate Schofield

- Food Technology Teacher (SLT)

I joined The Connected Hub in September 2014 to set up a new GCSE in Catering in the lovely new food room. Before this I taught in 6 different schools, 3 of them in Brighton and Hove. Having lived away from Brighton for 5 years with my family (and cat, Leonard) we are making the most of being here again. We especially missed living by the coast so spend a lot if time walking on the seafront and on the Downs.

Tracey Robinson

- Business Manager

I am a new addition to the team, started in March 2016 and I am so excited to be a part of the Hub.  I have been working in various schools for 10 years in many areas: Data, Exams, Administration Management and recently consulting.   This has given me extensive experience to provide a great support for the team.

I have lived in Brighton all my life in many areas, Mouslcombe, Whitehawk, Bevendean and now Hove.  My interests are gardening, cooking, catalogue shopping and watching sci-fi fantasy programs.  My favourite being Game of Thrones.  I am married with two children, 18 and 24, one is in Australia working and the other is working in Hove.

Rosie Reekie

- Science Teacher

Hello. My name is Rosie and I was really pleased to start working here at The Connected Hub this year, as a Science Teacher. I live in Brighton, locally, with my family. I enjoy teaching science and I am passionate about looking after the environment and using bikes instead of cars. I like doing fun things with my children, cooking, reading and going to the cinema.

Emma Saadatzadeh

- English Teacher and SENCO

I love travelling, modern multicultural fiction, art galleries and messing about with my kids.

I don’t have a favourite book as I could never choose one…I love kids’ books like Carlos Ruiz Zafon’s Shadow of the Wind, Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Graham and anything by Michael Morpurgo.

I also love the books that made me travel: The Far Pavilions by MM Kaye and Cry the Beloved Country by Alan Paton.

I am also passionate about teaching. Having taught for more than twenty years, in different schools, to different age groups and different subjects it’s never dull and no two days are ever the same.

Guy Williams

- Literacy/Numeracy/Drama Teacher

I love working at The Hub. I started here in 2016 after thirty-four years in mainstream schools around the country and I can honestly say it is the best place I have ever worked. The staff are brilliant and it is just so lovely working with young people who really want to make the most of their GCSE year, overcoming all the barriers that have been put in front of them. I am the Editor of The Journal for Drama in Education, a magazine for Drama teachers. I have led workshops for teachers and students in countries like Bosnia and Serbia and I have directed over 100 plays with young people. I moved to Brighton in 2003 and have three teenage children who attend a local school. In my spare time I love doing DIY and ironing. I also really enjoy going to the theatre and the cinema. I really enjoy reading and whenever I can, I like to go travelling – this year I am really lucky and really excited about going to Thailand and Australia.

Lucie Broadbent Smith

- Home to School Liaison Officer & Teacher of Art, Craft and Design

I joined The Connected Hub in January 2013 and I love being part of this team; it is a special place to work. My primary role is to support the students who come here (and their parents), helping to break down any barriers to learning. I am always willing to make a home visit or to meet to discuss any difficulties. I also support our Headteacher, Louise with any issues arising regarding Child Protection and Safeguarding.

As the teacher of Art, Craft and Design I encourage students to think widely about using different techniques and media. In my view Art is not just about drawing and painting, its a chance to try new things.

I don't live in Brighton, but I enjoy my commute driving over the downs each day.

Debbie Mansfield

- WRL/Transition mentor

I joined The Connected Hub in April 2014 bringing 17 years of knowledge and experience of working in various roles within schools in Brighton.  I will be guiding and supporting students through year 11 in planning their transition into further education at post 16.

Outside of work I have three sons, all grown up.  I love to sing, dance, listen to a diverse choice of music, love ALL flowers, yoga, swimming, walking and reading books.

I am also an avid Brighton Hove Albion fan.

Martin Bunker

- Science TA

I live in Brighton and am a father of 3 girls. I’ve been an adult teacher most of my life, but have also had other varied jobs one of which was as an Ambulance Technician (Paramedic). I'm passionate about science and technology and am a bit of an IT Geek, providing IT support for family and friends.  I'm also a lifelong sci-fi fan, so occasionally you may see me, at the weekend, in strange outer-worldly outfits raising money for local charities!

Helen Murray

"I'm Helen, I'm from Wales and have lived in Brighton for seven years. I enjoy reading, walking my dog, listening to punk music and playing the bass badly. I'm also trying to learn to speak German and Welsh. I've been at the hub for a month now and am loving it so far."

Del Woodward

- English TA/Literacy

I love reading; particularly American literature such as works by Hunter S. Thompson and Chuck Palahniuk. I’m an absolute fanatic about Star Wars and have watched the original trilogy probably more times than is acceptable. I love to cook and get very territorial in the kitchen. I’m really excited to work at the Hub and to share my passion and knowledge of English.
