Vocational Courses and Work Related Learning

Students can study a vocational course at one of our local colleges/partners or carry out extended work experience placement one day a week.  Debbie Mansfield, our Transition and Work Related Learning Mentor provides students with advice, support and guidance to ensure placements are both suitable and career related.

Students already on a 2 year college course will continue their course whilst at The Connected Hub.  Students without college courses have the option to do a one year course whilst attending The Connected Hub choosing from following KS4 Engagement Programmes:

  • Build a Bike
  • Catering
  • Considering Construction
  • Hair and Beauty
  • Motor Vehicle
  • Pet and Animal Care

Students progress, attendance and behaviour on college courses and work experience is closely monitored by Debbie Mansfield.  All students are supported throughout their courses / extended work experience placements and should any issues arise, they will be dealt appropriately.

Special trip to Brighton University Media Department.

A group of students from The Connected Hub went on a trip to Brighton University on the

3 March 2016.

We were met and offered drinks and yummy cakes  and then taken off to the Media Studio where we learnt about all the different aspects and jobs involved in making a T V programme. We were then given the opportunity to take up various roles and make a T V programme. Once it was recorded we were then given the opportunity to change round and try out a different role in the making of the T  V programme.

It was a great afternoon and all the students were brilliant. We achieved in 2 hours what is normally done over a whole day.  Well done to the students and BIG  thank you to staff at Brighton University. Students on the trip were: Lexi, Megan, Macey, Montana and Afie.
